(Zaragoza Var.) -> Lleida -> Candaznos -> Burgo de Ebro :: Camino Ebro (190 km = 8.5 dy)

Doing the Camino de Santiago, starting from the city of Barcelona, involves linking three itineraries. The first is the so-known as Camino de Barcelona, which is the one that unites the city of Barcelona with the Monastery of Montserrat.

Camino de Barcelona: heading to Monastery at Montserrat

Those wishing to start their pilgrimage in Barcelona direct their steps to the Monestir de Montserrat (Monastery of Montserrat).

The Camino de Barcelona is 57 Km long, and can be divided into 2 or 3 stages, on foot.

From the Monastery of Montserrat to Tárrega

Although there two variants for the Camino Catalan, they both cover the same starting stages.

The 77 km separating the Abbey of Montserrat andTárrega are common for the Camino Catalan Septentrional and the Zaragoza variant. This route is typically divided into 3 stages, on foot.

  • Monasterio de Montserrat – Igualada (26,3 km)
  • Igualada – La Panadella (22,5 km)
  • La Panadella – Tárrega (28,6 km)

The Camino Catalan through Zaragoza (variant 2)

From Tárrega, head to the city of Lleida. From there continue on to El Burgo de Ebro where you join the Camino del Ebro. (One can then follow the Camino del Ebro to the Camino Frances.) This variant of the Camino Catalan is 189 km in length.

This section of the Camino de Santiago from Tarrega is broken into 7 stages.

  1. Tárrega – El Palau d’Anglesola (23,1 km)
  2. El Palau d’Anglesola – Lleida (24,6 km)
  3. Lleida – Fraga (32,7 km)
  4. Fraga – Candasnos (26,4 km)
  5. Candasnos – Bujaraloz (20,6 km)
  6. Bujaraloz – Pina de Ebro (37,9 km)
  7. Pina de Ebro – El Burgo de Ebro (23,4 km)
